The Bible-based curriculum program that started in 2019 in America, Lifewise Academy, has grown exponentially since its humble beginnings. Funded by private donations and grants, this program is being run in public schools across 34 states, serving an estimated 100,000 students.
Lifewise Academy reports, "In public schools where the program is offered, absence rates are nearly 50% lower, suspension rates are 30% lower and over 30% more students perform at or above grade level compared to when it is not offered."
Children are released from their regular schooling with parental consent to attend the program, and they are encouraged to recruit other students to join. Some have suggested that allowing Christian religious instruction of students in public schools is an attack on the provisions of the First Amendment. However, as yet, no-one has sued Lifewise Academy or the Education Boards of America for allowing this program to occur; however, Lifewise Academy has sued one school district for what they saw as discriminatory practices.
