The European Religious Community have called upon the European governments to implement greater measures to reduce carbon and decrease their impact on the environment. In the first of its kind, the leaders of a number of religious groups issued a petition (see: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aDS72fkxEOhP_CReS8l6AUFEp7Pd_s1Hzg5NMOfFzzE/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0)" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aDS72fkxEOhP_CReS8l6AUFEp7Pd_s1Hzg5NMOfFzzE/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0) that had a five-point action plan for the European community to care for the "common home." When churches band together to call upon society to make moral decisions, this is commendable. However, this petition suggests something deeper. It ends with these words, "[we are] ready to work with you towards a future where everyone can flourish." When churches work together with state powers, their ideologies permeate the decision-making and legislation. This is the basis of religious persecution.
