In mid 2025, a team of young Roman Catholics launched a manifesto calling Europe back to its Christian roots. Called "j2r2033" for short, this youth movement is designed to prepare the youth of the world for the "Jubilee of Redemption" to be celebrated in Jerusalem in 2033. The Roman Catholic Church holds that 2033 marks the 2000th anniversary of Christ's resurrection, although many Protestants believe that year falls in 2031. Whilst we commend those who want to use their time and talents to call people to have a deeper walk with and knowledge of God, this movement has a clear political intent. The project was launched in the Vatican, with the blessing of Pope Leo XIV, and the  Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization for the Roman Catholic church (Monsignor Graziano Borgonovo) said, “In 2033, the great Year of Redemption, we hope that the young people of Jerusalem, of all Israel, of Palestine, the Middle East, and all surrounding areas will be able to enjoy peace. Peace is one of the fundamental desires of every human being, and we pray that it may be granted to us — that all the people in power in the world may be able to offer it and find all the paths to make peace possible once again” (emphasis supplied). If a church is under the authority of Jesus Christ, and their events are inspired by God, it is not for the 'people in power' to provide a way for them to commemorate an event, God will do that work. Whilst some may see this a call to lay down arms, for many of the 'people in power' this is a call to utilise arms. The United Nations 'peace-keeping forces' do not enter into countries to 'keep peace' unarmed. The current American presidency also claims that they seek to bring peace to the middle-east by going to war. To 'find all the paths' to peace  is a clear call to those in power to utilise whatever means they deem necessary to bring about the peace that the Roman Catholic church wants in order to facilitate their holy pilgrimage. This is a clear violation of the concept of separation of church and state.
